Work and Work Experience

Temp Marketing Assistant – T&F Informa
(April 2005 - June 2005)

This position involves maintaining web content for a large number of existing websites and using content supplied by marketing teams to create new websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and ASP.

I am also responsible for creating HTML and plain text marketing e-mails to be sent out using ERM’s email-marketing tool and for training new staff to use this tool.

Sessional Lecturer – Reading College of Arts and Design, Berkshire.
(Nov 2003 to May 2004)

This position involves teaching AS Computing and Information and Communication Technology to a diverse range of students. I am responsible for ensuring that students achieve their potential in these subjects. This is delivered by organising class plans appropriate to their level and ensuring that the standard of teaching meets the exam board’s requirements.

Voluntary Work as a Web Author - Salvation Army, Basingstoke Corps.
(2003 to present)

This position involves setting up the official web site for the Basingstoke Corps of the Salvation Army. This involves operating within an existing design framework, using Microsoft Content Management Server 2002.

NUS Disability Officer Basingstoke College of Technology.
(2000 to 2002)

As Disability Officer I was involved in proposing and carrying out a Disability Awareness Day, improving access to the college and making suggestions for other NUS activities. I attended training days to learn new skills and to interact with other NUS branches in the district.

Responsibilities included representing the Students' Union and all people with disabilities within Basingstoke College of Technology. This involved working with all members of the NUS executive committee effectively, to ensure that they were a productive and accomplished team. I also acted as a liaison with the Equal Opportunities committee and other members of staff.

Clinical placements for Diagnostic Radiography course, University of Derby.
(1996 and 1997)

As part of my diagnostic radiography degree course I undertook three work placements. These involved practical experience of radiographic procedures and patient care. It was necessary to function effectively as part of a medical team in treatment of patients, whilst ensuring the safety of patients, staff and myself and carrying out tasks in a professional manner.

Work experience at Cuford Farm, Bramley.
(1991)

I organised this as part of my secondary school work experience project. I was involved in milking and caring for the dairy cattle. This involved learning about animal welfare and ensuring the health of the animals whilst maintaining my own safety.

Voluntary work with St. John's Ambulance, Four Ways Cross Nursing Home, Greywell.
(1990)

This was organised as part of the St. John's Ambulance Community Service, I was involved in all aspects of caring for the residents.

I take my responsibilities seriously and carry them out to the best of my ability. I am self-motivated and will undertake tasks without prompting when required. I am a team player and I attempt to get the most out of people, whilst having a caring and professional attitude. This has been shown in the roles I have taken up through my voluntary work and work experience.
